Special guided tours of the Stewart House (home of the Shippensburg Historical Society) lead by 4 Shippensburg University students. “Dr. Alexander Stewart – The Legacy” tours will begin at 5:30 & 6:30 pm. Groups limited to 20 people – call 532-6727 to reserve a spot. FREE to the public.

Student Led Tours of the Dykeman Hatch House property. Tours will begin at 3 pm. Come out to learn more about this historic site in Shippensburg. Please meet at Dykeman Park and gather on the Hatch House side in the open area directly in front of the parking area. FREE to the public.

“Members Only” Exhibit Opening 7 – 9 pm. Come out and see the new **Fort Morris** exhibit, curated by Patrick Bochy! Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
May 7
Stewart House Open as part of “First Fridays,” 5 to 7 pm. Exhibits featuring Fort Morris, Mower carriage / blacksmith materials, and Graduation Photo’s. Make it a night on the town – grab a bite to eat at a local restaurant and visit S.H.A.P.E. Gallery for their exhibit opening featuring works produced by their members. Free and open to the public.

Tour of God’s Acre Cemetery (oldest in Shippensburg), 2 pm. Free and open to the public.
May 20
Dinner Meeting at Messiah United Methodist Church (30 South Penn St), 6 pm. Charge for the dinner: Members – $12; Non-Members – $ 15. Presentation by Miriam Huffman, of the Chambersburg Quilt Guild. Huffman recently wrote “Quilt Treasures of Yesteryear: Antique Quilts of Franklin County, Pennsylvania.” Free admission to presentation at 7 pm. RSVP by May 17th by calling 532-6727.

Stewart House Open as part of “First Fridays,” 5 to 7 pm.
“Civil War Hero & Homes,” 6 to 8 pm. General Samuel Sturgis (a.k.a. Jacob Crider) will talk about his life and military career at 6 pm in the backyard of the Shippensburg Public Library. At 6:30 an architectural walking tour of homes on King Street will begin at the Library. Light snacks & refreshments will be served at the Historical Society. Free and open to the public. Series sponsored by March to Destiny & Shippensburg Historical Society.
June 12
“Victorian Life & Fashion,” 6 to 7:30 pm. Come out and enjoy an evening of storytelling and a promenade of Civil War Era clothing. Families with young children will enjoy listening to a story about the lives of adults and children who lived during the War Between the States. Fashions from all walks of life in the nineteenth century will be featured at the Stewart House, including men, women and children’s clothing. Free and open to the public. Series sponsored by March to Destiny & Shippensburg Historical Society.
June 17
Pig Roast at Memorial Park, 6 pm. The meal will be catered by Crider Meats and will include roast pork, relish/cheese tray, macaroni & cheese, green bean casserole, coleslaw, cake, punch & coffee. No formal presentation is scheduled for the evening, instead bring a friend to enjoy a tasty meal with good company. Before dinner, local musician, Nick Staver will play acoustic guitar. He is a real gem and fantastic local talent! Charge for Members – $12; Non-Members – $ 15. RSVP by June 14th by calling 532-6727.
June 19
“Period Family Fun Night,” 7 to 9 pm. Letters from the McPherson family will be read and available. The Junior March to Destiny will arrange for a cake walk and period games. Refreshments offered at the Stewart House. Free and open to the public. Series sponsored by March to Destiny & Shippensburg Historical Society.

Opening of Civil War exhibit! Stewart House open 5 to 9 pm. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. Candlelit tours of Civil War Walking Trail begin at Gazebo, 8pm, and end at Shippensburg Historical Society.
